Infectious Disease Care
In Guatemala, major infectious diseases include dengue fever, tuberculosis (TB), and HIV, along with other parasitic and opportunistic infections. Dengue outbreaks are common and can become severe, while TB remains a persistent issue with an estimated 33 cases per 100,000 people. HIV prevalence is lower but still significant because it increases vulnerability to other infections.
San Juan Bautista Regional Hospital can help by improving early diagnosis, strengthening treatment for diseases like TB and HIV, providing emergency care for severe infections such as dengue, and supporting prevention efforts through education, outreach, and better disease monitoring.
